Wow! What a world the Internet has become and if you are researching steam cleaners you had best hold on to your hat. How could anything so simple become so exhausting?
We promise we will De-clutter your mind and save your sanity. Refreshing and simple, we will be honest and educate, providing only correct information and the facts. Take a deep breath and relax, we will not over "hype", fabricate unknown "technologies", or overstate products and we hope to leave you knowledgeable and confident.
There is no advanced technology that makes steam more effective.
Steam is steam and it's all about the heat. The hotter it is, the faster it works. Steam cleans almost anything and sanitizes simultaneously, killing 99.9% of microbes as tested in labs by many companies, including us. So what about these claims that special technologies enhance steam's kill ability? It's well known that the hottest temperature any microbe on Earth can survive is 260°F. And trust us, you'll never run into one. They live in volcanic vents 1.5 miles undersea. But if you did, steam alone would still kill it. No hoopla needed. So essentially, anyone trying to sell a technology that adds to the killing power of steam is misleading you.
No mysticism here just simple basic science
Temperature and the Pressure of the saturated steam are mutually dependent. When one of them is given, the other is determined. The saturated steam table is a good reference.
For example, if a steam cleaner produces 58 psi of pressure then the boiler will maintain an average 293°F (not up to 320°F as many insist on advertising). Simple science, but it appears to be quite difficult for many sellers to get this straight. However, facts are facts and it is important be provided true information when making an investment in a steam cleaner or any investment. Is that not what one expects?
It is actually "low moisture" or "vapor" as it should be properly referred to avoid marketing confusion. This is based on the temperature of the boiler of the steam cleaner that sets the moisture content of the steam. One further step is the use of a pressure regulator on the steam cleaner to lower the steam pressure resulting in less water released from the hose yet lower moisture hot drier steam. Unfortunately, we must use this term also to avoid further confusion when you are comparing products.
Water is Water - Miraculous yes! In a steam cleaner?
Boiling point starts the process (212) and the higher temperature the water heats the higher pressure builds when contained, like in a steam cleaner boiler. Distilled water? Unnecessary and we do not typically recommend it unless needed. If you know that you have hard water, well water or a water softener (contains salt) then yes, any bottled water is necessary to protect your machine.
You get what you pay for..sometimes
In fact you get exactly what you pay for Direct from the factory to the importer 1 markup is factored into your purchase price and Vapor Clean falls into that category. The majority of steam cleaners on the market are not sold by the importer direct as they are part of the chain of markups from factory to importer, distribution, website and commissioned sales etc. and eventually you are the one paying for the layers of markups. If you see steam cleaners out there from importers at far higher prices, chances are you are paying for high overhead or lifestyle. After sale customer support and product service can often get lost in a supply chain.
Boilers, Heating elements, Components and on...and on
They all have the best... or do they? Here is the bottom line in the world of steam cleaners. There are two main origins of steam cleaners, Italy being the primary source. Italian made steam cleaners all come from the northern region of Italy from approximately 4-5 factories. They all use primarily the same components, boilers, elements etc. Design varies internally, and of course there are different features such as continuous fill or All-in-one steam cleaners such as our Desiderio models. Many claims of special parts or technologies are all a large part of the buyers confusion, and often a tool to hype and overvalue a product.
China/Korea/Romania are the main other sources of steam cleaners
Well known, these products are lower in price (if the seller advertises their origin) and the quality of materials or temperature capabilities are not that of the Italian steam cleaners. How can we make such a statement? In order to try to meet all needs of our customers and also understand all markets, we also import with no middleman a steam cleaner from China for a price of $169.00 compared to those up to $499.00! We strive to offer and also have a working extensive knowledge of these products.
